I have replaced all the hoses on 164, recored radiator and ran it today without the fan to get it hot to see if I had any leaks.

I noticed that I was not getting any water through the heater.  Temp guage read 105ºC, no heat at all in heater hoses.  Disconnect the hoses and I can blow through them fine, tap works.  Took the elbow off the engine, thats fine.

I assume that this is just an air lock.  But how do I get rid of it.  or is my water pump not working of something.

Anyone else had this problem

thanks

HA ha we've just done our second longish trip without a heater due i suspect to the same problem. When we got 374 the heater tap was leaking so replaced it and stupidly left it in the same inaccessible position which needs the radiator removing to access. Away we went on the trip and found the new heater tap leaked also so while on the road bypassed the heater at the engine.

when we got home relocated heater tap to engine bay and all seemed fine but when we tried the heater no heat and a faint coolant smell from the air vents so another trip without a heater. At least now it doesn't need the radiator removal to get at plumbing to the tap. No idea how to bleed it either, might need to pull the return hose off while the engine is running.

fixed it by taking the hose off at the top of the heater and then putting another hose on to the heater core and sucking until coolant came out. Foul tasting stuff! bad as brake fluid.

Heater gets hot now, so I'm pretty sure that fixed it.

Might also have been a sticking thermostat problem.
