I have followed 169 in an LT before the Cummins and the difference was minor so I'm sure the old perkin was a bit tired but not that much down on power.

Comparing a Perkins in an OKA with 80 kW in th 90's to a 2h with 72kw from the 80's is not really fair. Look at what was in a land cruiser in the 90's 1hd 115 kW. When comparing performance of our old coaster 1hz 96 kW no turbo to the OKA the coaster at about the same weight 7t ( loaded coaster and trailer, empty OKA and loaded trailer) the coaster would run rings around it. When you compare the capability of the OKA to handle the weight and take them were we do OKA would only have had to have done a few things different engine included and they would have done a whole lot better. My old man worked for a sand mining company and they didn't go well enough for them to us them as service vehicles.
In standard form for a motor home or slow speed stuff the OKA works but even at only 7t for long distance tour work like I do it wasn't adequate. I personally feel OKA could have made a real go at it that's all

Frank, Peter is half correct.
A STATION WAGON is a seated full body with Barn doors, as opposed to a VAN that is a full body with none, or minimal seats and van doors.

OKA had planed to put the six cylinder Perkins in but the front axle was about 150 kg short on load capacity to get it licensed so the 4 cylinder went in hence the long cowling for the fan.
I asume at the time there was no bigger front axle available.
