On recent trip found out that cant stay in 4wd HI, I think this is mainly a adjustment problem.

So I have been looking at what other options are around and found this.

NP205 Cable Shifter Kit (Passenger Drop)

That is a Dana Transfer but shifter is the same.

I like the idea once you instal the shifter and the twin stick kit allows you to run the following shift positions:

-Rear Wheel Drive HI Range
-Front Wheel Drive HI Range
-Rear Wheel Drive Low Range
-Front Wheel Drive Low Range
-4 Wheel Drive Hi Range
-4 Wheel Drive Low Range
-Neutral

Any diff problems allows you to still drive, with the rear, I think you can take the axle out and still be able to drive etc.

Whats people thoughts???

OBJ, I think you have to make some internal mods to the shift rails (or new ones) which means removing the transfer case for disassembly.

I also think you will have a bit of fun and extra expense finding cables long enough for the Oka

I dont think the cables would be hard to find, Mcmasters etc would have the right, length or custom made ones.

Would be a few dollars, but gets rid of the big bar going back.

I think you can use the twin stick, you just lose some off the functions.

I can certainly confirm that the NP205 does have a Low range front Wheel Drive position and it is quite easily found using the current lever and linkage. Just pull it back a cm from the full-forward position.
No good for getting up sand dunes though.

OBJ,as David mentioned, you will have to modify the internal shifting rails as the std set up does not allow more than movement at the time, the rails are different and the rods between the two rails are also different, they are readily available from various suppliers in the US,you will save yourself a lot of money and headaches if you just toss the OKA linkage and convert to a single cable.

I went to COVS the other day and they had a display with the different style cables that you can order to the length required, another supplier is Flexible drive industries.

Cheers,

If you got the cable then you would still need to make up the brakets etc etc. Thats why I was looking the double shifter kit. No need to make brackets. So its a choice of making a shifter etc, or take transfer box out and fitting double shifter. Probably replace bearings etc at same time.
