Hi Joe
I purchased an Oka a few years ago which had an electronic rust controller fitted by the previous owner. If I remember correctly, the previous owner gave it a favourable report. You maybe able to chase up more detailed information through Collyn Rivers who was the previous owner and is a wealth of information.
Electronic rust controllers have been around for a long time in the marine industry before they were marketed to the automotive industry. I certainly don't think they would do any harm as most Okas may have some rust and the unit may slow down the oxidization.

Well, have spoken to Collyn, he thinks some of the systems will slow the rust process down but won't eliminate whats there, then I spoke to two chemical engineers that specialise in rust control and they told me not to waste my money, one suggested grapeseed oil as a coating to the inside of the doors as the properties are equivalent to fish oil without the smell.
cheers

Hi Joe, I wouldn't recomend the electronic rust control. The number of trucks that I've come across that have had it, seem to have major problems with corrosion on/to anything alloy that is fitted to the vehicle , and the Oka has its fair share, the alloy apparently acts like a sacrificial anode and starts to corrode.....it will slow rust...but what's the point if all the aluminium on your truck is deteriorating. check with Paul Nott he will confirm this. regards okapete.

Hi,
Yes we have a Couplertec Electronice rust converter on our bus. Our bus already had rust in it , it won't repair any rust ( that's not what it's designed for ) but seems to have slowed down the spread of the rest of it. We are ( well John is ) in the process of cutting out all the rust & replacing panels & repainting. The rust converter seems to have held the rust & with the added bonus of keeping the paint shiny as it stops the paint from oxidising & powdering up to a dull finish.
John's brother has just bought an Oka bus also from the guys on the Gold coast tour company ( see video segement on main page ) & he is going to fit one to his vehicle also. He is up in Qld picking it up now so we have another Oka owner to add to the group. Hope this helps,
Regards,
