I posted about fitting a 5 speed Spicer to an ISB 4 a few weeks ago but the thread seems to have disappeared. I'm thinking about taking the plunge and buying it anyway and fitting an auto if the Spicer just won't work.

Anyway this is the engine I am looking at in Melbourne next week. 165hp @ 2500rpm, inter cooled, new engine.

Supposed to be the same as fitted to an NT. I haven't had a chance to take measurements yet but the mounting arrangement at the rear has me a bit confused an it all looks a bit wide. Can anyone confirm that this is what an NT engine looks like.

Yes Pete,it is the same engine, the rear mounts on the NT are actually mounted from the chassis to the Allison 1000,if you use that engine you may be able to get the mounting brackets from Allan, this are the mountings I fabricated before and after the zinc coating,I will dig up some photos of the front mountings

Cheers,Joe

Pete, is this the thread you lost?

It's in "The Workshop/Parts and Suppliers Database/Engine Related/Cummins ISB 4.5" here .

You need to be logged in to see the Parts and Suppliers area, do you want me to move it to this open area?

The flywheel housing and flywheel are a standard SAE config, lots of adapters and trans use an SAE pattern.

Strange thing Dave, I was logged in, viewing my own profile trying to find my "last posts", but most of the tabs at the top of page had disappeared, I had to log out and log back in to get the "new topic" one back.
Post is ok where it is.

Thanks for the info. Nice job on the mounts.

Have you had to do a chassis stretch to get the Allison and divorced NP205 in there?

Pete,my chassis is the same dimensions as the NT,I just use 12mm weld on bosses when i need to bolt something to the chassis, the spot were I fitted the rear mountings is exactly the same spot as the NT,it just misses the rear hanger of the front spring,I had a look this morning when I was at the workshop and there is not enough room to mount the rear mountings of the rear of the motor, the Allison narrows down a bit were the mounting area is.
Cheers,Joe

Joe I had a similar problem with the SAE bellhousing on the Perky which is used in the 4l80E conversion. There was insufficient room in line with the actual mounts as they are pointing at the chassis just like the ones on the ISB4 so I made mounts to go backwards to pick up the original mounting points on the chassis.
Where do you get the 12mm weld on bosses from? They wouldn't be hard to make either. I gather you just drill a hole in the chassis and weld the boss on the outside?

Pete,Allan at OKA spares have some bosses left over from the manufacturing days, they are made out of CR Ni hollow bar,30mm external diam, you will need to drill a 20mm hole and weld the boss to the chassis.
Cheers,Joe
