Hello all, after getting a second & third opinion,I attacked my airbox with a Dremal & sabre saw & removed 985 cm2 of metal shroud from the airbox. The result was not dramatic but it was worth doing. There was the expected increase in induction noice but I can live with that as old 96 now acelerates when asked to, instead of the old
wait for it folks, the revs will increase soon situation. The engine is certainly more responsive.Happy with the result.
Another way to get a smoother ,more responsive & quieter Perkins is to keep the tappets adjusted correctly.Done in the right sequence, the right setting & done stone cold. Mine badly needed doing so was surprised at the result. Anyone else done the mods?.Regards, Chris.

Hi Chris, Could you give us some details on exactly how you attacked the air box?
Cheers Lloyd.
