Cando, where exactly can you see the scoring?
Are there any symptoms (noise/ vibration/oil leaks) that make you suspect the turbo?
I've been researching turbos recently and a common comment is that many turbos are changed when the problems are actually external.
This turbo fault-finding guide might help and I found Turbo Australia quite helpful with technical advice on (07) 3375 3755. I put a comment on their troubleshooting page and they called me right back.
Regards,

I know i've asked this before on another specific post but received no replies.
Does anyone know the model/part number of the Oka turbo and also the part number for a wastegated replacement.
I intend to change to a wastegated turbo to get a bit more from the Perkins but have as yet found no one that can advise what to fit. I also intend to fit an intercooler but again not much info around.

Dandj, air cleaner not connected as yet so i can see marks on the housing around the impeller area as though grit has been in there at some time. no noice and all seems fine, wouldnt have picked it other than seeing it.
had a look at the chart, thanks. Under 'engine lacks power ' i recon there should be a section that says OKA.

Peter, according to the Oka Specs the turbo type fitted depends on the engine number:
Engine Prefix Turbo Type
•AB Garrett T31 or Schweitzer S2A
•AC Schweitzer S2A
•AD Schweitzer S2A
•AE Garrett T25
•YB Garrett T04B, TBP4 or Schweitzer S2B
•YD Schweitzer S76, Garrett T25
•YE Garrett TBP4
The last 3 seem to be waste gated types but are for 6 cylinder engines.
Engine type AB would be the most common in an Oka so a Garrett T31 is probably what you've got.
I found very little data on this model so some advice from experts is needed (eg Turbo Australia, see post above, or try Paul Nott/Robin Wade etc).
The Oka part number is DET 2674394 and if you search for 2674394 (which is also a Perkins OEM part number) you'll find some references to the T31 but it's a mire out there. The T31 is obsolete and an upgrade path would be hard to find without assistance.
Tim Forsyth upgraded iLean (VIN 072 which is now owned by James & Usha) and wrote up his experiences here but there's no turbo part number mentioned. James & Usha might help.

I've had a rumage through the folder Tim gave me and the only reference I can find to the turbo was on the receipt for the work done. It refers to it as a GT28. As to which of the GT28's it is I'm not sure as there seem to be about 18 of them. I'll keep looking and see what else I can come up with. Does anyone know where on the turbo's the model number might be stamped?

Cando, I have fitted a Garrett, 739548-5001 MHM 12015 and an inter cooler, the same setup that Brendan Eblen did. There were some adjustments to make to the gear shift rod on my LT.
It has given me more low down power and torque but I think I have lost about 5 km/h top speed, I am happy with the results. It was suplied by Alltrac 4WD in South Australia. The fuel pump has been cranked up so I need to controle the right foot.
