Hi All,
I am thinking of maybe removing the bus body to check the chassis out and also pretty it up a little.
How hard is it remove the bus body and how long would it take?

Jack, the bus body is not hard to remove, start by cutting the mastic between the cab and body, remove the allen head 16mm bolts to the head frame of the bus body connecting the cab, disconect electrical wiring, remove all bolts from chassis mountings (check to make sure no after market gear has been attached or welded to the body, now is were the fun begins, you need to lift the body from the rear and slide it backwards as you have locating pins that stops you from lifting the body straight up,ba careful and safe as the body is bloody heavy.
Cheers,Joe

Thanks Joe, a mate has a Caterpillar IT with fork lift attachement. that should get it off.
I take it the electrics, just unplug.
Not sure if I will do it yet. Just a thought, means I can get to the chassis easier. Clean it, paint etc etc. Also could do some body work on the bus body.
Sounds like a 2 or 3 hr job to remove. Mine has the steps, rear etc etc. Would I need to remove the rear bumper? Can I lift it by the roof rack?

There is wiring that runs through the A/C Ducts at the wall of the cab and body, need to remove the Bus A/C Ducting in the roof and the front cover of the A/C in the cab Roof to get to the plugs, this is the wiring for the Door and Lights. The safest way is with a hoist to remove the Body not a forklift. have done the job in around 3 Hours with the correct tools. Don't forget your tail light, there is a plug at the rear.
As you lift the Body your back end of the Chassis will raise quite a bit so plenty of clearence is required at the rear.
All the information is in the Service Manuals on cab removal.
