Hey all. I’m slowly getting together a picture of what a camper body may look like for us. We are used to having a Cub camper with a slide-out fridge. We also almost exclusively cook and eat outside, unless weather is atrocious. We don’t want to take up valuable interior space with a kitchen we won’t use. We’ll probably carry an lnduction plate for a quick indoor pasta in bad weather…..
On our camper, it’s pretty easy to see how to design a slide-out kitchen that ends up at a standard bench height (about 600mm).
Has anyone come up with various solutions to kitchens/benches/storage/fridges at “normal” bench height? My missus is about 165cm so silly if we need a step/ladder to reach everything….
Ideally, we’d have an awning covering entire passenger side, the kitchen/food prep area would be underneath it.
Post pics if you have them!

We generally cook inside, but we do have a "second kitchen" outside that has a 2 wok stove plus a drinking water tap and a decent light. There is also some significant storage and although it is not generally kitchen stuff, it could be.

This is a kitchen that I've seen and I'm considering for 216. Not cheap but it does get the work top down to a reasonable height.

For 297 I went with a "clearview" drop down unit mounted inside the composite box under the slide on camper.
Our requirements are similar to yours re height issues etc.
To be honest I don't exactly like it because (a) it's heavy (b) requires to be mounted on one of their fridge slides (more weight).
Given time (didn't have) I would have made one for less weight and better functionality, but there it is.
Sorry for crap pic am currently overseas and this is all I can find.
Cheers!

Thanks mate. Yeah I have seen loads of fridge units like this, however could something be rigged out of one to hold a kitchen?

Sorry to clarify - by "kitchen" I'm not referring to a fridge, but rather a cooktop (gas or electric induction) with 2-3 burners/plates, and a sink with running water (and a place for it to drain). The fancy one in the pic above is (I think) on a Mog, and still looks too high. The sink is also an afterthought by the loos of it!
We use a plastic folding table for prep, so bench space no big deal.
The challenge is:
- an outdoor cooktop next to a sink with running water at standard bench height.
- under an awning
- easy pull out/pack up (ideally no need to connect/disconnect water and power +/- gas every time)
- can then arrange outdoor cupboards/drawers (or integrate with kitchen) so everything is nearby
- nearby fridge at reachable height also ideal (perhaps an upright so height less of an issue?)
Man! Not easy on a tall vehicle! Mat

That's what Karstan & Maxine did. They found an all in one kitchen unit which fitted nicely onto a drop down slide. Whether that is what they still have I don't know, but it will be documented on one of their youtube videos somewhere.

I think this is what they used. Personally I don't like canister stoves, but it may give you some more ideas.

Yeah I found that. In a later episode, they pull it all out! Too hard to use and too heavy! Hmmmm.
