Hi all,

OKA runs at around 98 to 100 degrees, which I know is high. It doesnt use any coolant and run at that temp the whole way across the paddock from Adelaide to Perth.

Radiator is new and has coolant etc.

Any one have a part number for the thermostat? It is the only thing I can think of that may need changing,

Cheers

Could also be the temp sensor unit P/No VDO 320.031

Sorry do not have the number for the thermostat but any dealer or company should have that number as it is Perkins phaser and they are quite common. One of my 2 OKA's has always shown to run hotter. Did the actual fluid tempt test and it is not, so I assume it is the sender and have not worried about changing as I know it is not hot, as it shows 10 degrees hotter than it is.
Good luck

Thanks for the info.

I will check the actual water temp. I am considering installing a low water alarm as well.

Just hope I dont have to do a water pump, they are appernatly no longer available.

I replaced one recently, somewhere on the road in NSW and had no problems getting it. I can probably dig up the part number if you need it

Water pumps very rarely give trouble on these but I do have a new spare, that I keep just in case when I am in the bush.
They are, as I understand readily available as I believe the 6 cylinder is the same and I think the early JCB Tele-handlers had the same motors as our OKA's, but 75 HP as we had 2 of them on the farm. Starters different but the water pumps looked the same. Also China now makes the Perkins 6 Phaser and from all my info they look the same on the outside any way. Try any perkins dealer and they should be able to source. Robin Wade sold me mine and it came ex east from memory.

OK thanks for the info. I think once I have finished all the work getting done now and A/C is installed, I will buy one as a spare.
