Occasionally I come a cross a reference to the Oka Owners Group which looks like it was quite active at one time but it has been very quiet since I joined the forum in 2011.

Does this group still exist? If so how does one join and what are the benefits?

The OOG pretty much exists as the members of this website now. It was originally formed for the same purpose, consisted entirely of private owners, and somewhere along the way required a membership fee as it was based around mail-out newsletters and some stickers and stubbie coolers. David Ribbans took over the mail-out newsletters in 2012 and has a new one pending at the moment, but in this digital age there are always fewer OKA owners each year who no longer have access to email and this website, so the requirement for hard copy is diminishing.

The OOG newsletters since inception are available under the Documents & Data tab up the top here - then the first item on the menu, Newsletters. There is some interesting reading there. The first one is from June 2002, and at that stage the OOG had 21 members. About half of those people are still OKA owners, including the leading lights of Lloyd & Marj Parsons, and Michael Hession. Rule One was that you had to own an OKA to be a member, but we who have blown in later have since let that one slide.

The balance of funds left over from OOG subscriptions is now held by David R, and will go towards further mailouts and this website, should the need arise. At this stage it's not costing a lot so we don't see a need in the near future to go seeking funding from the participants.
