G'day from new Oka 244 owners - Gerry and Sabine

Hi guys - just to introduce ourselves to the forum as brand new first time Oka owners (Oka 244). We bought this bus over the weekend and are aiming to build it out as a motorhome. Trolling through the forum I believe that Outback Jack used to own this bus - mate I would really like to get in touch with you... or anyone for that matter who has any background. I would also really like to meet up with any Oka owners in and around Adelaide. The Oka owners community does seem like a fantastic , knowledgable and tight knit community and I am sure I will need to tap into all this expertise in the future. I am certainly planning to do as many upgrades as possible myself once I've figured out what needs doing. It does sound like upgraded spring pins and 35 spline axles might be first on the list??

You are encouraged to post a thread regarding your Oka and it's development in this topic . By default, that's a members-only area but you can also post it in this open area if you would prefer it (some folks prefer to restrict details of their plans and progress to members only, others don't mind the world being able to view them).

A System Admin (there are three of us, Hal, James and me) can always move your post around later.

And of course ask any questions you have about Oka ownership in the forums, there's nearly always someone here (usually several) with an answer or opinion.

BTW, I am also in Adelaide (Greenwith) and there are several other Oka owners scattered around SA too.

Likewise, welcome to the forum and to the world of Okas. I have just returned from my first trip in Oka 059, 18,000 k's in 80 days around Central Australian deserts and am totally blown away by just how good these Okas are. It is without doubt the best vehicle I have ever owned, supremely comfortable, but more important, always fun to drive.

There is an Oka meeting on this weekend - a great 1,400 kilometre shakedown cruise for Oka 244......

Margaret and I are also in Adelaide (Blackwood). We are currently in Europe, but would be happy to 'chew the fat' after we get home around the end of October.
