Every cloud has a silver lining. Last month we had a corruption with our original oka4wd.com website, which proved to be out of our control and inadequately supported by the host's backups. So your three friendly local website administrators (James Byles in Karratha, David Ribbans in Adelaide and myself in Perth) set to re-creating that website with local hosting, new site software, new forum software and a reliable backup system - and here we are.
This website will also allow much more flexibility as we grow and develop, with added abilities to do many of the things the owners have wanted over the years but that couldn't be done on the old platform. Poke around, send us comments, but above all please contribute to your heart's content. We'd love to see your vehicle on show in the Members Vehicles forum, your trips related in the Gatherings & Travels forum, your input into the Maintenance forum, and all your questions answered and ideas developed.
Cheers

What is the go is this the new ongoing site or is the old one going to be kept going as well as it now seems to be back working?

Don't stress if you see stuff that needs fixing at this early stage - we're all still learning this new software and there are plenty of changes being made.

... and then to Edit...
... and once you've made the changes and additions that you want, click Save at the bottom.
While editing your profile you also have the opportunity to change or add an avatar image - the small pic that appears over on the left there. I've used the one from the old site for all the members I've added who already had one, or found a pic of their OKA for those who didn't if I could, but there were a few I had to leave blank.
There is also the opportunity to add 'Personal Text' - but I'd rather you didn't - that goes under the avatar pic and makes an already-long side bit even longer; but then right down the bottom of the same area is 'Signature', which is a good thing - saves you typing in the same sign-off on each post - better to use that, but please keep it to simple text and a link if you want, no pics or distracting stuff. It goes where mine says ... Hal and Liza OKA 260

May I make one request though, on behalf of old farts with fading eyes? The 'grey' text on a grey background is a bit hard to read. It looks smart and subtle, but a nice black text is heaps easier to read.
Again, thanks to Hal, David and James. I know there is a lot of work involved.
Cheers,

Paul, that text colour change is on the short list (David & I had already asked for the same), and will surely happen... once James can figure out how!

James and Usha wrote: Working on it Paul. I have to recode some of the background files and it is a little bit hit and miss with some of it. I'm hoping to have it with black text before the weekend.

Thanks James, hope it's not too much work. I have zapped one eye welding, and just now contrast is the order of the day!
Thanks again,
Cheers, Paul
