Only about 100k from home so could be worse, just very hot weather today so it takes an age to cool down before we can travel on. Don't want to cook it so taking it slow and steady. At least we've got the full camper facilities and its not too uncomfortable.

Haven't been to Mayford since 2003, we were there the day the Alpine fires started. Whole area was burnt out a week later. Lovely spot then, it should have recovered.

Mayfords is in the north end of the Victorian High Country. Directions from Bright...
Follow Great Alpine Rd from Bright for approx. 20kms (approx!!), through Harrietville and up the windies (winding roads) to Mt St Bernard. Then turn right onto Dargo-High Plains Rd (If you hit Rene's, look out! You have gone too far.)
After turning right onto Dargo-Highplains rd (gravel), travel approx 8-10kms. Then turn left onto King Spur track (you will know that you are in the right place when you turn in and you go over a small mound of dirt in front of you. There will be Lanky Plain Hut.)
Follow Kings Spur (keep left) along the edge of the bluff which is always on your left (views to Hotham Heights/Mt Hotham) past Long Spur Track off to your right and continue to follow Kings Spur Track. Some sections are off camber and rocky, and then a long straight descent down towards Mayfords.
Follow Main Track and cross Dargo River 3 or 4 times in quick succession, and you will come out into Mayfords.
We will try to get one of the big campsites up the valley on the right hand side, along the river.
Cheers,
Darren
