Spotted this Oka in a recent copy of the Wanderer magazine.

It was in an article on the Grafton Floral Festival in October 2016. Looks very pretty.

The pictured OKA 124 is ours, based in Yamba.

The Wanderer picture was take in Grafton at the Clarence Valley Ramblers Mini

Jacaranda Rally in 2015. Lorraine is the rally coordinator and wrote the article in

the Wander to publicise the Mini Rally and Grafton Jacaranda festival held in the

first week of November. The Wanderer's circulation of 35000 plus the spin-offs like

this site are great free publicity for Grafton's Jacaranda festival.

This unit was at Cooinda when I looked it over re purchase.. several years ago.. I was not impressed with the Perkins Lovol [Chinese] engine installation, and bought #187 in preference, as it had the NP205 transfer case as well as being fitted with an intercooler.. #187 will clip along quite happily at 110 kilos [GPS], and I cannot fault the old Perkins.. Have found since that the next service was due on 24.2.2002.. 508,000 kilos.. it was only 8 years old then.. They were both owned by Top End Explorer Tours, based in Jabiru, NT.
Cheers,
Nobby.

Nobby, Pete,

This site has some photos of the Oka used by C2C Tours when run by Clint and Charleen Lovell from Carina, QLD in the early days. Not sure if it's one you recognise (sample below)??

Looks like they had some fun. Most pics are of an LT but there's also an XT there too.

Hi All,
Thanks for the images... Definitley some XT pics, but they all seem to be missing the rooftop aircon condenser.. #187 has a larger twin fan unit.. which I could see no sign of..
I spotted an NT here in Katherine in a local panel shop.. just this week.. looks like it has had an issue with a beast or buffalo.. belongs to Outback Spirit.
I neglected to mention in previous post that the other Oka I looked at at Cooinda was # 257..I have here in my shed the original Perkins engine as well as a lot of miscellaneous bits from #257.
Cheers,
Nobby.

While on our recent 8000km holiday in 146, in Alice Springs where we came across an Oka who were also in town for the Finke Desert race, they passed us so did not get to say hello but believe they were a father and son as a friend spoke to them later on, did not get their number. Then out from Karratha passed Oka 58 towing a trailer going the opposite way. Unfortunately our two way aerial was not the best for reception, so our contact was very brief, but caught the gentlemen name Steven (Stephen?) of Karratha and his partner .

Mary, Oka058 is certainly based in Karratha. Sal and Stephen Daws have owned Oka058 for the past couple of years .

They are current members of the Oka group.

We spent a few days in Alice with another Oka couple, who left before the Desert Race, we stayed as we ran a checkpoint with a few other helpers to pit crew 25 motorbikes and 1 buggy we were at the 80km mark and the other Oka - did not know the number (father and son) was about 30kms down I think, we tooted when we passed their camp. Our departed friends did chat to them, so will try to find out who they were.

Yes we went through Geraldton on the 27th on our way home and got the cheapest fuel on the whole trip there, was only $1.169 per litre, amazing! So we purchased 300 litres there.

The tanks are very well made in aluminium, have locking caps and fit all the existing brackets fuel lines etc. Trev is very happy with them. They were made by a trades person. He also made my replacement steps, instead of the air operated 2 treads I now have 3 treads, heaps better, even though they are manual are very quick and easy to use and I love them, not so far to step up or down, these are very well designed and made, and a lot of thought went into them (and time). I have photos of them on our Oka 146 build page - members vehicles.
I have PM'd you with the info.
